Are you constantly hiding behind cars and bushes to avoid an embarrassing encounter on walks every time another dog appears? We can help!
This specialty class is geared toward dogs who become over-the-top excited, bark, whine, cry, growl, or lunge at other dogs while on leash. All dogs in attendance must be comfortable with friendly strangers. Instructors will teach handlers how to effectively manage their dogs’ behavior on leash and teach behaviors that are incompatible to reactivity. The goal is to bring focus away from the other dogs and onto you as the handler making walks much more enjoyable.
Please note: This is not a socialization class. Due to varying degrees of reactivity among our dogs students, the dogs will not be interacting and instead we will focus on keeping their attention on you in these contexts.
The classroom is set up to keep stress levels low for handlers and their dogs during instruction; please expect visual separation between structured dog-dog exercises.
- Female dogs must be spayed and all dogs must be up to date on rabies, distemper and parvo vaccinations.
- There are no prerequisites for this course. No prior training? No problem.
